The loft space at Fame, a former textile factory with a breathtaking view of the Philadelphia skyline, provided the backdrop for Brittany and Andrew’s totally amazing industrial chic winter wedding.
I connected with Brittany and Andrew through one of our favorite wedding photographers to work with, Joshua Michael Johnson, and from the moment we started talking about the wedding day I was so excited to be filming it. The connection the two of them have together is incredible and their joy and excitement was so infectious throughout the day, I knew this wedding was going to be special.
What was even better, the wedding day was a tour of some of my favorite filming places in Philadelphia. We started getting ready at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing, which I highly recommend because who wouldn’t want to get ready for their wedding day overlooking the Delaware River Waterfront. Walking out onto the balcony from the top of the hotel and looking out to all the ships lining the river, you just gotta love it.
It was on the warmer side for a February day in Philadelphia, and I use “warmer” lightly, so outside along the river in at Penn’s Landing was a perfect setting for Brittany and Andrew’s first look. The excitement and love they both had when seeing each other for the first time was magical and genuine, such a special moment.
The great thing (for videographers and photographers) about winters in the city, is some of the unique, outdoor photo spots are completely empty. So, when you get to film a style and portrait session with the couple and the bridal party at one of these locations you end up with some incredible imagery and our shoot at Cherry Street Pier.
Cherry Street Pier is an amazing location, right next to the iconic Ben Franklin Bridge and built into the shell of a century-old municipal pier. You could literally spend hours there finding new spaces to film and take photos, corners of the pier where the lighting is creative and unique, and historic backdrops that truly inspire, it’s a space that really does not disappoint.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Wedding Venue
The style and portrait session aren’t done yet, once we get to the ceremony and reception venue, FAME, urban alleyways surround the venue and the crème de la crème is getting the rooftop access to the building with stunning 360 views of Philadelphia and the Center City skyline. Filming up there right around sunset was so amazing.
Back inside FAME for the ceremony the timing was perfect, right after sunset when the city was lighting up. You had the most amazing deep blues and purples filling the sky which framed the Center City skyline perfectly by the wall of industrial warehouse windows and the candles throughout the space accented everything perfectly.
The reception space was stunningly designed. Brittany and Andrew customized it in a way that really accentuated their personalities and style. The flower arrangements by Vault and Vine we something else, trendy and sleek, every arrangement piece uniquely accenting the industrial space.
I have to say, the creativity and individual style Brittany and Andrew put into their wedding made for one of the most unforgettable filming days and the memories made that day will be forever cherished.
